Renting a Campervan in Vancouver during winter!

As the summer draws to a close, so to does the perceived camping season in BC and much of western North America… But it doesn’t have to be this way! In fact, there are many benefits to renting a campervan during the “off-season”. Here are a couple reasons why renting a Q Campervan during the winter is a great idea!

Although most of Canada is known for its harsh climate, Vancouver and Vancouver Island escape this fact. It does rain much of the winter, but overall it can be quite mild in comparison to other areas. There is a reason why the area is called a rainforest! Vancouver has an average temperature of 7-9 degrees celsius from November-February, which is more than warm-enough to stay in a van!

Vancouver is an international airport hub, where after picking up a Q Campervan, can be taken to gorgeous destinations even during the winter. For example, Tofino on Vancouver Island has its premier waves for surfing during the winter months. Furthermore, other places on the island like Victoria and its surrounding areas have similar climates to Vancouver. On the mainland, Squamish remains relatively warm during the winter and is very close to Whistler, one of the best skiing mountains in the world. Finally, the Sunshine Coast, a quick ferry away has incredible beauty without freezing your toes. These are all excellent destinations that can make a winter rental in Canada memorable! Now lets talk about the USA!

A great perk of renting from Q Campervans is that insurance covers you during your trip to the USA as well (some states require IDP’s, International Drivers Permits). This opens up incredibly scenic spots to take your campervan. The Washington coast is only a few hours drive away from Vancouver. Scenic ferries rides, gorgeous islands, and isolated roads make you feel at one with nature. A bit further, the Oregon coast has spacious beaches where even in winter are 100% worth the trip. Not only will the climate in the USA be on average more mild during winter, but it will be easy to find camping spots and visit tourist attractions as the busy season is past!

Off-season pricing!

High demand in the summer means that prices are higher. However, during winter/shoulder seasons, these prices are reduced. For those of you looking to have the same campervan at discounted prices, winter is your best bet! Peak winter months of November-February are the cheapest months at Q Campervans. The months of Oct, March, and April can often be extremely attractive as pricing is still lower but you can luck out with incredible weather rivalling the summer days. Off-season pricing has already been updated for the 2023-2024 seasons. Click here to view dates and prices!

Campervan Joolca hot shower winter rental

Every campervan has Joolca Hottap which provides instant hot water! It has a filter so any fresh water source can be used. Also, the propane that powers the unit is provided.

Winter-ready Campervans!

Q Campervans always wants to ensure the comfort of our renters no matter the season, without having to pay additional fees for it! During winter, all vans have winter rated snow tires (the vans are not 4x4) which means they can access all roads during the winter months. If requested, snow-chains can be included in your rental. In Canada there are times (October 1- April 30) of the year where winter-rated tires are required. We’ve got that covered!

Pet-friendly campervan rentals Vancouver

Pet friendly campervans make the perfect winter getaway for both you and your furry companions!

On top of snow tires, we include a snow-shovel, window scrapers, heated blankets, extra blankets, a small space heater, and a propane heater for outdoor use (upon request). Every van is fully insulated with Havelock sheeps wool that helps to battle the chilly nights. Also, because of the HUGE electrical systems in each campervan, the heated blanket can be run all night to ensure that your bed stays toasty warm! 300 ah of lithium ion battery power will do that ;). Finally, just because its cold doesn’t mean you can’t have a steaming hot shower and feel refreshed! Each van comes with an on-demand hot water shower! Go to bed feeling warm and refreshed!
